Club Info

The Waterside Sharks Takedown Club is an exciting new club in the North-West. Based at the old Clondermot School complex in Waterside, it combines the disciplines of Olympic Freestyle Wrestling and Judo to provide students with unparalleled sporting instruction.

Our aims are: 

  • To instill our athletes with a deep sense of respect, for themselves and each other.
  • To help bring local communities together through sport.
  • To demonstrate the benefits of physical exercise.
  • To create of a sense of unity and teamwork within the club.

Judo Training Times

Starting on Wednesday 13 January 2010, training for Judo takes place every Wednesday in:

Fees 

£2.00 for Juniors and £3.00 for Seniors.

 Juniors (7-15 years)  6:30pm - 8:00pm
Seniors (16+years)  6:30pm - 8:00pm

Training attire consists of a full Judogi (Judo Suit) or an old track suit for beginners. Junior Judogis cost £20 and can be purchased from the club administrator. 

Please note that the senior session runs at the same time as the junior session however two completely seperate mats are arranged for safety reasons.

Licensing for Judo

We strongly urge all our students to obtain a license of membership from the Northern Ireland Judo Federation (NIJF). This license is a legal requirement and is absolutely essential after the third week of instruction. The relevant forms can be obtained from the club administrator.
