Club Information
The Waterside Sharks Takedown Club is an exciting new club in the North-West. Based at the YMCA complex in Drumahoe, it combines the disciplines of Olympic Freestyle Wrestling and Judo to provide students with unparalleled sporting instruction.
Our aims are:
- To instill our athletes with a deep sense of respect, for themselves and each other.
- To help bring local communities together through sport.
- To demonstrate the benefits of physical exercise.
- To create of a sense of unity and teamwork within the club.

Training for Freestyle Wrestling takes place every Thursday in:

Fees
£2.00 for Juniors and £3.00 for Seniors.

There is also another session on Sundays at 12 noon. These sessions are strictly for seniors only and focus upon fitness and actual wrestling practice.

Licensing for Wrestling
We strongly urge all our students to obtain a license of membership from the British Wrestling Association (BWA).
The license is valid for one calendar year (January to December) and costs £30 for Seniors (over 18 years old) £20 for Juniors (11-17 years old) and £10 for School pupils (under 11 years old).

NIOWA Membership
In addition to BWA membership we also strongly urge you to seek membership of the regional governing body, the Northern Ireland Olympic Wrestling Association (NIOWA).
The benefits of membership are as follows:
· Only persons who hold membership of the NIOWA will be included in the Northern Ireland squads.
· Only persons who hold membership of the NIOWA will be invited to attend inter-club training sessions.
· Only persons who hold membership can represent the club in domestic or national competitions.
· Regular updates on the progress of wrestling within Northern Ireland
· An invitation to and participation in the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the NIOWA.
As with the BWA, a membership of the NIOWA runs for a calendar year (from January to December) and for 2008 fees have been set at the following rate:
